Social Distancing and SUP
I think most of us are pretty tired of social distancing. I’m exhausted from doing it day after day after day, always thinking about having a six foot radius around you. It’s not natural and it’s not fun.
Thank goodness for paddleboarding. Seriously, thank goodness. It’s a natural social distancing sport. We have to keep distance from each other because colliding isn’t at all fun! Because we need space to maneuver. That’s just how the sport is. And masks? I tried wearing a mask on the water once. I got it wet, and it felt like I was being waterboarded. Wet masks don’t work.
I’m not writing this because I’m anti mask, social distancing, vaxing, or any other important COVID precaution. As a teacher I constantly take precautions, and I’m fully vaccinated. Being safe is pretty much ingrained by now. But I’m also grateful to have a sport where I can be outside and not have to worry about such things. It feel terrific to feel free.
